Banner HR Training


Initial training for the Banner HR system is scheduled from March to September. This training will be broken down into 6 courses, all with different Banner HR related topics. Please see the following course descriptions which also indicate who the training courses are intended for. Click on a course title to register.

General Introduction to navigating through the Banner system.

Banner HR Overview
This course is the introduction to the Human Resources module of the Banner System and is essential for those using Banner HR for many different functions on a regular basis. Presented items include self-service, “where’s what”, screenshots, and Banner HR Baseball. Employees will be provided a Banner HR user manual and instructions on obtaining a Banner HR access account. This course is highly recommended for all employees using Banner HR.

Banner HR Query
Provides hands-on training in accessing information relating to employees and positions in Banner HR.
This course is intended for employees responsible for personnel, budgeting, and payroll actions.

Provides hands-on training for electronic & manual completion of employee and position action forms.

Provides hands-on training on how to enter time & leave records into Banner HR.
This course is intended for employees responsible for departmental payroll actions (HR and/or Payroll Liaisons).

Banner HR Open Labs
Banner open labs are intended for those who have completed the Banner HR Time/Leave Entry course and the EPAF course. These open labs provide an opportunity to conduct your time & leave entry manifest and new EPAFs during a live session in Banner HR.

Banner HR Overview for PIs & Department Heads
This workshop covers the required changes for departments and PI's processing and approving electronic payroll actions in Banner HR. We provide an overview of electronic approvals, security, forms, etc. Following the overview, the class will log into Banner HR Self Service via UNCGenie, to view and approve an EPA or Graduate Student EPAF payroll action. The sessions have been running about 45 minutes, and include staff from the Provost's Office and the Graduate School to help answer any payroll questions.

Banner HR Boot Camp I & II
Condensed Banner HR training courses intended for new employees starting after July 1 and who will be using the Banner HR system. This workshop is delivered in two half-days.

Information and demonstration on accessing and utilizing Banner HR reports in e-Print.
