Banner Printing

In working with Banner there are two types of printing: Screen Printing and Banner Print Queue Printing.

Screen Printing
Screen prints from Banner, just like printing from any browser-delivered web pages may be done to any networked printer mapped to your computer; or to any local printer connected to your computer. Certain types of output, particularly transcripts, cannot be screen printed.

Banner Print Queue Printing
A Banner print queue is required if you are printing things like transcripts, receipts or other output from Banner Jobs run through Job Submission. Please contact the Banner lead in your office regarding appropriate Banner print queues for your office. If you do not have a Banner lead in your office, you use Banner in your work, and you have questions about Banner print queues, please contact 6-Tech

In order to establish a Banner print queue for your office printer:

  1. You must have a "networked" printer connected to the UNCG network.
  2. That printer must be capable of supporting "Postscript" which is a printer protocol. (If you are purchasing a printer you should check with your vendor or the printer manufacturer to see if the printer supports Postscript. Most but not all HP networked printers support Postscript. If you purchase a printer that does not support Postscript you may be able to print other things to it but not Banner Jobs)
  3. Contact 6-Tech 336-256-TECH or 6tech@uncg.edu and ask that a Banner print queue be established for you printer. You will be asked to get certain information from your printer.

Printing output using Banner Job Submission
In order to print Banner output directly from Job Submission the user must perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Process Submission Controls Form - GJAPCTL.
  2. Enter the process name of the report, such as SFRSCHD.
  3. Perform next block and enter the printer name where the output should be printed.
  4. Do not enter anything in the special print field
  5. Perform another next block and fill in the parameters as necessary.
  6. Perform another next block. Be sure the submit button is chosen and then press save.
  7. After pressing save, the output should start to print on the designated printer within a few minutes.
